Eighth grade has been learning about physical and chemical properties. In the spirit of Halloween, they did a lab centered around candy corn's properties - both chemical and physical. They used measurements and their senses to identify physical properties. They also tested for flammability and reaction to water/vinegar to identify chemical properties. They mostly enjoyed discovering that burnt candy corn resembles campfire marshmallows.
